Donna Bowen The firm's third partner named to the prestigious "Best Lawyers of America" list for 2006-2007, Donna Bowen is also an AV®-rated attorney (Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings). She handles personal injury claims in each of Slack & Davis' practice areas, including appellate law. Her cases include aviation law, medical malpractice, automobile negligence, general liability and product liability claims. Bowen recently managed over 100 cases involving the painkiller Vioxx, which was withdrawn from the market due to risks associated with heart attacks and strokes. She recently managed approximately 60 cases involving patients who received a defective hip implant, and more than 100 claims related to a defective knee implant that was recalled. Bowen serves in a number of leadership positions, including the board of directors for the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the advisory board for the community service nonprofit "Any Baby Can" of Austin. She also serves on the State Bar of Texas Advertising Review Committee. Bowen has been with Slack & Davis since 1994. As a plaintiff's attorney, she stresses excellent communication with clients to ensure that they are kept up-to-date on the progress of their litigation and that their needs are promptly met. Achieving a Lifetime Goal Prior to joining Slack & Davis, Bowen worked for six years in the Houston and Abilene offices of a large personal injury law firm, where she learned that a plaintiff's practice was the type of law she wanted to pursue. Her primary focus was mass litigation against U.S. railroad corporations. She served as the law firm's point of contact for over 300 plaintiffs and contributed to case development. Bowen's goal in pursuing a career in law was to provide a voice for individuals who deserve representation against more powerful adversaries. She was admitted to the bar in 1994 and graduated with top honors the same year from the Law School at the University of Texas at Austin in the top 10 percent of her class. She received the coveted Order of the Coif. Her prior professional experience includes the coordination of a statewide political campaign and nine years administering a statewide professional association, where she served as the lobbying liaison. |
