Paula K. Knippa, Attorney

Since joining Slack & Davis, Paula K. Knippa has quickly become an integral part of the firm’s dynamic litigation team, particularly in the area of federal court practice. At present, she represents clients in a range of litigation matters, including aviation accidents, complex commercial litigation, business torts, products liability and personal injury.

Paula graduated with honors from The University of Texas School of Law where she was a well-regarded member of the Texas Law Review. In fact, her paper, “Primary Jurisdiction Doctrine and the Circumforaneous Litigant,” not only received an “outstanding note” award from the outgoing editorial board of the Texas Law Review, it was selected for publication by the incoming editorial board of the Review (Texas Law Review, April 2007, Volume 85, Number 5) as well. Paula’s clients at Slack & Davis have benefited from the focus, attention to detail and analytical skills she honed at the Texas Law Review.

Prior to attending law school, Paula, an accredited Spanish-to-English translator, ran a successful translation practice, principally focusing on legal and commercial transactions. As a translator, Paula had a unique opportunity to address legal issues and concerns frequently raised in commercial transactions—with an international twist. This experience renewed her interest in the law and ultimately inspired her to attend law school.

While education, skill and determination are qualities that led her to her chosen profession, Paula’s decision to become an attorney may have been even more personal. Paula’s father, an attorney in the Houston area, has maintained a successful general business litigation practice for more than 35 years. Larry D. Knippa set a fine example for his daughter.

Paula is a member of the Travis County Women Lawyers Association, Austin Bar Association, American Bar Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association and Austin Young Lawyers Association.
