February 4, 2008 – Ladd Sanger, managing partner of Slack & Davis’ Dallas office, will be a presenter at the American Association for Justice’s (AAJ’s) 2008 Annual Convention to be held July 12 – 16 in Philadelphia, PA. His presentation, part of the convention’s Aviation Law Section, is titled, “Mandatory Insurance Requirements for Aviation Operators and Maintenance Entities.”

While there is a growing trend around the world to hold individuals and corporations financially accountable for the damages caused by their tortious conduct, mandatory insurance requirements for aircraft lag behind those for automobiles; and in the United States there is still no federal requirement that aircraft operators have insurance. As a result, innocent victims and governmental entities incur losses and cannot recover from the parties that caused the injury. Sanger will discuss laws and regulations regarding mandatory aviation insurance around the world and how they impact aircraft operators and crash victims.
