Saluting a Colleague

“John Howie, a nationally known plaintiff’s aviation lawyer and leading figure in the Dallas legal community, passed away December 31, 2002.

For 20 years John was a dear friend and fellow aviation practitioner for whom I had the highest respect. In addition to being a dynamic trial lawyer, one of John’s many gifts was his compassion and caring concern for his clients.

Our newest attorney Ladd Sanger joined our firm as a result of our long relationship with Howie & Sweeney, the firm John founded with his longtime law partner Paula Sweeney. With John’s guidance before his death, and with Ladd’s help, Slack & Davis is now handling John’s docket of aviation cases. Together, we planned and executed this transition with the clients’ interests paramount.

I regret that this alliance came about due to the death of a good friend. As we carry our firm’s name into the Dallas-Fort Worth region, we are dedicated to honoring the trust John Howie placed in us.”
