Aviation attorney Rusty Allman was featured as an expert on Austin’s KEYE-TV reports with Judy Maggio and Jeff Eliasoph regarding a tragic plane crash at Lakeway, just west of Austin, that killed five. In addition, Allman was interviewed by KXAN-TV’s Dan Robertson and Connie Swinney. Allman helped educate viewers on topics like black boxes (or lack of them) in private planes, performance characteristics of certain aircraft, and effects of air density and load factors on take-off.Mike Slack made the news in a media report by Roy Hagar in the Reno Gazette-Journal related to the crash of a medical helicopter near Elko, Nev., that killed five people.
Slack is committed to preventing accidents from the indiscriminate use of air ambulances during inclement weather or in conditions requiring instruments, such as at night or in fog. Medical helicopter crashes in California, Texas, South Carolina and Nevada have taken 19 lives so far this year.
“In the South Carolina crash, three medical helicopter units had turned down the transport due to fog, before one finally accepted. Four people died in that crash, including the patient who was being rescued. It turned out the patient did not even have life-threatening injuries,” Slack said.
Ladd Sanger was featured in D Magazine’s May issue touting the “Best Lawyers Under 40” in the Dallas area. This was Sanger’s first time to receive this prestigious honor. Since January 2002, Sanger has headed up the Dallas office of Slack & Davis that includes legal assistant Jacob Morales, with administrative support from Linda Brown and Renée Hoolan.
“Our expansion into the Dallas market has proved very successful,” said Mike Slack. “The reason for that success is our Dallas team’s commitment and drive.”
Mike Davis, Mike Slack and Ladd Sanger all were named “Texas Super Lawyers” for 2004 in a survey conducted by Law & Politics Media, Inc., and published by Texas Monthly magazine. In addition, Ladd Sanger was named a “Rising Star” by the same group.
