The NTSB investigation determined that the turbocharger oil line had been misaligned during previous airplane maintenance. This error caused the hose to rub and wear through, causing the loss of engine oil. They named the low cloud ceiling as a contributing factor that may have kept the pilot from being able to make a safe emergency landing.
