Oklahoma Personal Injury Resources

Oklahoma is a state in the Southern United States. It is a major producer of natural gas, oil and agriculture. Oklahoma is a land of American Indian diversity with its 25 Native American Languages spoken. Oklahoma exercises the Good Samaritan Laws, which protect caregivers from prosecution for medical mistakes, as long as the caregivers are acting in a voluntary manner without any expectation of reward. Caregivers can’t make gross medical errors, but instead are protected from liability for “reasonable” mistakes.

Oklahoma has an estimated population of 3,814,820 and, in 2010, had a total of 197,523 civil incoming cases. This is 5,251 cases per 100,000 of the total population. Like many of the nearby states, Oklahoma has and had many Indian reservations. It is interesting to note that Native American tribes have their own unique laws.

Like the rest of the country, in Oklahoma, a signification portion of civil cases in the state courts are personal injury cases. These claims, also called tort claims, all involve some kind of injury to a person or to property due to the actions of another entity. Many lawsuits fall under this category, including medical malpractice, construction accidents, defective products, and traffic accidents. Traffic accidents generally make up the bulk of personal injury claims, and this is certainly the case in Oklahoma.
