Wyoming Personal Injury Resources

Wyoming is in the mountain regions of the United States. Most of the western part of the state is covered with mountain ranges and foothills of the Eastern Rocky Mountains. Wyoming contains areas that are under the management of the National Parks Service. These areas include Yellowstone National Park, and many other recreation areas, trails and national monuments. It was the first state to give women the right to vote, leading the rest of the country in this crucial right. Wyoming is an “at fault” state. Thus, if a driver is found to have caused an accident that resulted in injury to someone else, then it is the responsibility of that driver and his or her insurance carrier to pay the ensuing costs.

Wyoming has an estimated population of 576,412 and, in 2010, had a total of 44,152 civil incoming cases. This is 7,822 cases per 100,000 of the total population. Of the total civil cases, 396 are tort cases, tried in the District court. The tort trend in Wyoming seems to be going down though it was up in 2009.

Like the rest of the country, in Wyoming, a signification portion of civil cases in the state courts are personal injury cases. These claims, also called tort claims, all involve some kind of injury to a person or to property due to the actions of another entity. Many lawsuits fall under this category, including medical malpractice, construction accidents, defective products, and traffic accidents. Traffic accidents generally make up the bulk of personal injury claims, and this is certainly the case in Wyoming.
