Helicopter Crash Due to Main Rotor Blade Delaminating

Case Title: Rosario Pementel v. Helidosa Helicopteros Dominicanos S.A. and Robinson

On October 11, 2006, a Robinson R44 helicopter, HI-803CT (Dominican Republic registration), crashed after losing control near Mano Negra in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. The two pilots and both passengers were killed in the crash. The passengers were in the Dominican Republic to search for land for future hotel/resort development. The helicopter lost control when the main rotor blade delaminated while in flight, severing the tail boom. Witnesses stated they saw the helicopter losing some of its parts in mid-flight before it went into an uncontrolled spin. Slack Davis Sanger represented the family of one of the pilots in a suit against the company which owned and maintained the helicopter. The pilot was married with a young child, and his wife was pregnant with their second.

Mike Slack has been practicing law for over 36 years and has litigated hundreds of lawsuits. His experience as a licensed pilot and former NASA aerospace engineer gives him unique insight into aviation accident lawsuits.
