John R. Davis Named to Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars for 2022
Slack Davis Sanger is proud to announce that Partner John R. Davis has been selected for Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars in 2022! Rising Stars honors the work of the up-and-coming generation of attorneys across the country. To be eligible, an attorney must be no older than 40, and/or in practice for up to 10 years. Only 2.5% of all eligible lawyers will be named to the list, and inclusion one year does not guarantee inclusion the next. Attorneys cannot purchase a spot on the Rising Stars list; they must be nominated by a peer, and undergo a rigorous selection process.

John R. Davis has been named to Rising Stars every year since 2018 for his work in Class Action/Mass Torts; in 2018 and 2019, he was the only Austin-based lawyer to receive this recognition in this area.
Mr. Davis leads Slack Davis Sanger’s whistleblower, mass tort, and class action practices, with a special emphasis on complex litigation involving:

- Environmental matters
- Insurance matters
- Dangerous drugs and devices
Before joining Slack Davis Sanger in 2016, he worked in a high-profile, New Orleans-based law firm which focused on class action and environmental law. He previously served as a judicial law clerk for two federal district court judges in the Middle District of Alabama. At the time, his work focused on pharmaceutical antitrust class actions, RICO class actions, and environmental natural resource damages litigation.
Mr. Davis’ commitment to his work and his keen legal instincts led him to being named the court-appointed class counsel in Grigson v. Farmers Group, a federal class action alleging discrimination against approximately 700,00 policyholders. He helped secure a $52 million settlement fund (of which $12 million were reimbursable as attorney’s fees/costs). He also serves as court-appointed PEC counsel in the Mass Tort MDL In re Valsartan Irbesartan Losartan Prod Liab. Litig., MDL No. 2875 (DNJ).
His varied experiences give Mr. Davis a unique perspective about the law and how it applies to his clients’ cases here in Texas and across the country. Whether he is fighting to hold corporations accountable for their behavior or protecting the best interests of everyday citizens who blow the whistle, John R.
