Ladd Sanger Provides Insight on UPS MD-11 Grounding in WHAS11 Interview
Slack Davis Sanger aviation attorney and managing partner Ladd Sanger was featured on WHAS11, Louisville’s ABC affiliate, to provide insight into UPS’s grounding of its 26 MD-11 cargo aircraft following the November 4 crash of UPS Flight 2976.
In the segment, Sanger explains that the inspections now underway are far more extensive than initially anticipated. He noted that the scale of the review is unusual for a cargo fleet of this size and reflects the severity of the accident. UPS has acknowledged that the inspection process will take months rather than weeks and is leasing aircraft, consolidating routes, and adjusting ground operations to maintain holiday-season capacity.
Sanger also highlighted that MD-11 aircraft across the world have been parked for detailed examination, calling UPS’s approach appropriate given the catastrophic nature of the crash and the uncertainty around the fleet’s airworthiness.
Slack Davis Sanger will continue to monitor updates from the NTSB and UPS as the investigation progresses.
