Mike Slack Analyzes Laredo Crash Flight Data for the Laredo Morning Times

Aviation attorney and former NASA aerospace engineer Mike Slack analyzed flight data from the June 16, 2026 crash of a NetJets Cessna Citation Latitude near Laredo, Texas, in a feature for the Laredo Morning Times.

Drawing on FlightAware data, Slack walked through the aircraft’s altitude, speed, and position from its departure in San José del Cabo to its final moments near Laredo International Airport, including the 270-degree turn and significant altitude loss in the minutes before impact.

“There was something going on with the aircraft that they were not able to correct the altitude with power,” Slack said.

Slack is a licensed pilot, a former senior aerospace engineer who contributed to NASA’s Apollo-Soyuz and Space Shuttle programs, and board-certified in Aviation Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
