16 Died in Hot Air Balloon Crash

Sixteen people died in a hot air balloon crash in Caldwell County near Lockhart, TX on Saturday.  Austin aviation attorney and former NASA engineer and licensed pilot, Michael Slack, with Slack Davis Sanger, has confirmed that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has designated this a major investigation and NTSB Board Member, Robert Sumwalt, is enroute to the scene with a team of NTSB specialists. The media can anticipate update from the NTSB once Sumwalt is on-scene.

Slack shared insight and comments with several media outlets on hot air balloon operations and crashes and what can be expected with the NTSB investigations. His firm has handled several cases involving fatal air balloon crashes, as well as a number of other major airline, charter, and air ambulance disasters across the country and internationally over the past 30 years.
