Heart Drug Containing Carcinogens Hit with Wave of Lawsuits; John R. Davis Appointed to Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee
Dozens of lawsuits have been filed against the makers of Valsartan – a widely prescribed generic heart medication that was tainted with potential carcinogens – on behalf of victims who took the drug and some who developed cancer as a result. Since last July, the FDA has been coordinating a recall of the heart medications when the carcinogen was discovered.
In addition to the dozens of lawsuits Valsartan now faces, several class actions have been filed on behalf of consumers and health insurance companies to cover economic losses. All cases have been combined in a multidistrict litigation before Judge Kugler in federal court in Camden, New Jersey. In May 2019, Judge Kugler appointed Attorney John R. Davis to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee.
