Montreal Convention: The JetBlue flight was taking off from Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, Jamaica bound for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida. Shortly after takeoff, the Captain reported the presence of smoke in the cockpit and stated that they were returning to the Kingston for an emergency landing. All ninety-eight passengers on board were evacuated using the emergency slide.
As the passenger went down the slide, she injured her ankle. She went immediately to a hospital in Kingston where an x-ray revealed a fracture. She was admitted to the hospital for two days and advised she needed surgery.
